Spawn Drag Bus
Done
to resemble the Spawn Funny Car. As a fan of Spawn, this was a
fun one.

Spawn
Supervan
This was a one-off
that I made for a friend and Super-van freak. I loved the look of
the Spawn Drag Bus so much, I wanted to see what it would look like
on the van.

The Bomb

This was entered in the 20th Hotwheels Convention in Anaheim
2006. It won 1st place in the Diorama Class at the Customs Contest.
It
started as a basic Hotwheels VW Drag Bus. The top was cut off, and
a new roof added. A new back was grafted onto it to give it that
signature VW Bus look for the rear. With the new roof, came a new
look with the trademark 21 windows that the VW Micro-Bus had. The
body was altered a little further to give it the proper stance. It
was then sprayed with an OD Green to resemble the Military WW2
Bomber planes. Graphics were added to complete the look, and to go
over the top, the ever popular Bomber Art with the "Pin-up
Girls" graces the top.
The
chassis was addressed in the same style theme. Not too much, not
too gaudy. Keep it low-tech and in the same themes as the
fighter-planes of the era. So a diesel six cyl. engine was chosen
with some vintage style exhaust and heat covers made from steel
mesh. A few added details here and there round it out nicely.
Again, nothing to modern to keep it from the era. The interior is
no frills and vintage all the way. Right down to the OD Green seats
and brown seatbelts. White wall real riders tires complete the
look. This looks as if it could have competed at the Salt Flats in
the early 50's.
For
the display, I wanted to keep the same theme, but go with something
nobody had done before. Is a replica grenade style case. When
closed up, it looks as real as any you have ever seen. Right down
to the decals and military numbers. It has the pull ring that can
be set to pull away and the "spoon" will actually fly off just like
the real thing. Except it isn't. When sitting on the stand, the
side (top) can be removed to show a chrome tread-plate design where
the Bus will sit. The whole thing sits on a stand that has the
logo "The Bomb" displayed on front.

VW
Bug-Rod
This was a regular VW
Bug built Rat Rod style. I love the look of a fenderless Rat Rod
Bug. Add the headlights low in the front and you got the LOOK!
Classic orange and black paint finish it off. Built for the RCX
show in Anaheim, May 2006

Atomic
Bomb
This was cast as an
experiment. It was cast out of Carbon Fiber Epoxy resin and
aluminum powder. The chassis was made from sheet aluminum with
detail added to it. The flames were hand painted. This was built
in March 2005

Bomb
Hauler
This was built in Feb
2005. Hauler and Beach Bomb set. Was built to be simple in it's
form. Added an aftermarket deck on the COE Hauler to hold the
custom Beach Bomb. Flames were hand painted.

California Dreamin'
"California Dreamin" This was built in 2004, for the HWC
Larry Wood Custom Contest. It is the 1989 casting VW Bug. The
interior was changed out and customized, top cut off, new wheels
added. I altered the base to "slam" it. The engine is from the
1975 Rockbuster and paint detailed.

Camaro vs
Mustang Set
This was built for
Chicago Nationals 2005 Ultrahots Party. It was built for a "Cam vs
Mus" theme. Limited to 13 pieces.

Giger
Drag Bus
Giger VW Bus - This first
one was the first stretch I did and one of the first buses I really
set out to customize beyond just a repaint. I entered it at Cinci
3rd Nationals. I stretched it and built a full chassis for it. I
added graphics beyond.

Bio-Mech
VW Bus
This was made in 2004.
It was shaved, custom handflamed, and HR Giger style Biomechanical
graphics added to the top. It was a VW Bus body only, no chassis
was commisioned.

Drag
Bombed
This started life as a
Beach Bomb side loader. I added the wheels from a Twinmill 100%
casting, full detailed interior, and added the hand painted flames.

VW Drag
Truck
Just a simple VW Drag Truck Stretch. I added better wheels and put
my name on it.

Neon Glow
Drag Truck
Just another Drag Truck
stretch. Decided to go with the Neon colors on this one. House of
kolor paints and custom wheels.

Street
Ghia
One of my favs. I
used a Johnny Lightning, Karmann ghia casting for this one. I added
a roll cage, new seats, dash, and custom steering wheel. Behind
the 2 front seats, I added a detailed engine that can be seen
through the back window. I followed it up with custom wheels, some
body emblems, and all the chrome detailing and trim, and painted it
with House of Kolor candy pink.

Foose
Hauler 2004
This was built and
shown at the Irvine Ca, Hotwheels Convention 2004. It started as a
VW Drag Bus and a couple of 100% cars, the Verne Luce Coupe, and the
Smoothster. The VW Bus was cut in half and made into a hauler truck
with serious scratch building. The whole back was made and I added
the engine showing through the rear deck. It pulls a fully scratch
built trailer that will carry both hotrods. All three vehicles and
trailer were painted to match using all House of Kolor paints. It
was then brought out to Chip Foose at Foose designs.

Mad Max
Tooned Set
This was a fun one to do. Mad Max is
one of my fav movies and inspired me to do this set. Of course,
looking at the Tooned Camaro that I started with as the 2 base cars,
it was only a natural. Now before any of you diehard MadMax fans
email and tell me it is the wrong car and looks nothing like the
Interceptor, I already know. But, I think I pulled it off fairly
well,.. tongue in cheek of course. The original car was a Aussie
only Ford Falcon XB Hardtop converted with the van front
spoiler/bumper cover. A lot more details went into it of course.
These 2 being the same car, had to look
different in there end result. But it still turned out alright and
made for great conversation pieces. A lot of body filler and
modifications brought out the "wasteland" in them. All graphics
were done with decals.

Build-Off
Bus Pomona Show
This was built at the
2nd Annual Custom Car Show in Pomona, CA. There was a build-off
where you had 2 hours to build, using only the parts they provided,
and no paint. It was a fun time. Better pics can be seen of this
bus and all the other entries at
www.conniebasham.com

Santa's
Drag Sled 2004
This started life as a
VW Drag Bus. It was built on X-mas 2004 for the Hotwheels Ornament
Contest. I really didn't take it seriously by any means, just had a
little fun with it. It was kind of fun tearing and cutting apart a
few ornaments to make this too.

Impala "Aztec Gold"
Lowrider style is not the
style I usually build. So for that reason, I thought I would build
a few of them for fun. I painted this with HoK Pagen Gold over
Orion Silver, with some orange faded in. I used some Met. Silver
striped decals to set the look a little off. throw in some interior
detailing and wire wheels and I thought it looked about right. I
entered it at the 2005 Pomona Hotwheels Custom Car show and won 2nd
place in the Repaint Class. Not too shabby.

Impala "Emerald Dreams
This was another fun
one to build. The gold and green really goes great together too.
Some HoK paint, gold wire wheels and a little decal fun thrown in.
Makes for a great simple custom.
